The
following tips are just some of the good driving practices that each driver
should follow.
- Speed Kills - why not start your journey 5-10 minutes earlier.
This will ensure you don't have to rush.
- Don't Drink and Drive - alcohol affects vision, co-ordination and
reaction times
- Don't use mobile phones on the move - pull into the side of
the road or at least use a hands -free kit.
- Be more alert when driving at night as it becomes more difficult
to see road hazards such as bends in the road.
- In poor weather conditions increase the separation distance
between your vehicle and the car in front.
- When driving in built up areas be particularly aware of vulnerable
road users such as cyclists, pedestrians, animals - show some consideration
and give them plenty of room.
- When travelling behind a large vehicle drop back in order to gain
a clearer view of the road ahead.
- Be considerate of inexperienced drivers (young or old). Their
road awareness may not be as good as an experienced driver.
- Be patient with learner drivers. Remember you were a learner
once.
